Translation Style and Conventions Guides
FUEL creates style guides for the purpose of localization into multiple different languages. Assamese, Gujarati, Hindi, Odia, Punjabi, and Telugu stye and convention guides are already cretaed and discussion happened among the community regarding the same. Work is ongoin to create a style guide for the few more languages. The field of automated translation is relatively new, and a style and convention guides for individual languages will be helpful for improving translation and for testing purposes. The goal is to make translations more accurate and consistent, and easier for the intended audience to understand. The style and convention guide will assist translators and localization engineers to increase the quality and understandability of multiple facets of translation. These guides discuss fonts, collation, numerals, calendars, acronyms, glossaries, punctionation, whitespace, message lengths, and other localization issues, from the viewpoint of the native language in which it is written.
